Open Office 1.1.0 Released

Open Office has released the latest version of its office suite. It's free to download, and works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Go get it. Use it. Make files that you can share with ALL your computer using friends.

Did I mention it's free? That certainly beats the $276 (Standard) or $328 (Pro) price for MS Office XP. It's even more if you buy it retail, but you all know about Atomic Park, right? (I'm not getting anything for posting that. I just like to order software from them. Their prices are good and I haven't had any hassles from them.)

MIT OpenCourseWare Open for Business

MIT now has information for 500 courses free for the downloading on its OpenCourseWare site.

What does that mean? Stop reading this blog and go learn cool stuff!

Adobe Suite - Want it - Can't get it

Adobe has released several of its applications as one Creative Suite. While I would love to get my hands on this, there is no way I'm burning a ~$1000 hole in my credit card.

They have decent consumer level products with the new tiered Acrobat 6 and Photoshop Elements. I wonder if they will ever find out if they could sell "light" versions of more of their stuff to people like me who aren't graphics pros, but want to do some amature design work at home. (Or you could go get Open Office for free and save documents as PDFs.)
